Just blowing off steam
I got a message from a "friend" the other day that really ticked me off. I'm sure he meant it to be just a friendly warning, but it really sent me over the edge. I really hate it when people asume they know what you are going through, especially if they have NEVER been in a situation even remotely close to mine. My "friend" said to me that he hopes my marriage will be able to withstand Chris being in the military, because it's tough. Excuse me? How does he know that being married in the military is tough? He's not married nor has he ever been even close to being married. Also, he has never seen Chris and I together. So how does he know anything about our relationship? He also doesn't understand what kind of commitment we have made. He only knows about regular marriages that often end because the couple doesn't want to try anymore and divorces run rampant. Ugh. And another thing he said was, "you won't be able to go live everywhere that Chris goes." Hello! I do know this. Chris and I didn't make this decision lightly. It wasn't like one day Chris said "I'm joining the army because I saw a cool commercial." I'm not dumb and I know that there is a high possiblity that he will get deployed some where I can't go, but do you have to point that out all the time?
Another thing that bothers me is this: Everyone asks how I'm doing, but they really don't want to know the real answer. They want me to say "I'm fine. I am keeping busy and Chris is doing great." They don't want to hear, "This really sucks. I miss Chris incredibly and I'm worried about him getting deployed. I don't sleep well and keeping myself busy doesn't stop me from thinking about any of it." If I was to say any of that they wouldn't know how to react and then they would try to comfort me and say it will be okay. How do they know? So I stick to "I'm fine."
One thing that is really fine is my marriage. Chris and I talk as much as we can on the phone and that is great. Hearing from him helps me feel better. So if you catch me after I've talked to him and ask me how I am... I'm doing okay probably is the truth. :)

New Office
So today was my first day "working" at Redstone. Redstone is one of the association we manage and from now on I will be down at their clubhouse for four hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesdays I will be out here from 1-5pm and Thursdays I will be here from 9-1. It was slightly boring today, but I can't complain, because the rest of the employees are moving all our stuff into our new office. Ha ha, suckas. :P They are having a moving company help, but it was nice to get away from the chaos. Redstone is located really close to c-470 and Kipling, so I think I might just hop on the highway and go to the temple after work on Tuesday. Woot! After we are settled into the new office we will get my computer up and connected to the laptop at Redstone so I can work like an IT guy on my computer back at the office. Kind of cool. :) I am excited about my new position and the lady I will be assisting is awesome.

Busy
I am so glad that time is cooperating with me and flying by not crawling like a snail. One thing I'm sure that helps is being busy. For the next month I am booked. This week alone I have visiting teachers coming tomorrow, Wednesday is family night, Thursday is the first day of moving at work (we are moving to an office even closer to my apartment), and I am going to see an old friend on Sunday. Plus, it is Jessica's birthday and Sabrina's due date on Saturday! I am so excited for them. :) Then May is crazy... Cindy's birthday, My birthday, Jessica's high school graduation, Brad's college graduation, Enrichment night, Christy's baby shower, and that is only the beginning. :) Wow!

Chain Lock
So on Monday night some guy tried to get into my apartment! YIKES!! He was trying to put a key in the lock, so my guess is he was just drunk and confused, but it kind of freaked me out a bit. I was yelling through the door "You've got the wrong house! Please Go Away! You've got the Wrong House!" I know that probably wasn't the smartest thing to say, but it was late and I wasn't thinking straight. So, I bought a chain lock yesterday and went to install it and remembered... my door is made of metal. :( Great... so now I have to figure out if I can install the chain thing on my door anyway or if they make one of these lock things for metal doors.
